Its been a while since Ive posted an actual journal, so here goes.
Theres only 3 or so weeks until Im finished high-school forever. Next year Ill be moving in with my sisters to study at university in the big city. Ive been there almost more times than I can count since grade 5/6, so the systems there arent all that unfamiliar. That, and I know some of the best places to shop.
Dad seems to think that Ill be driving everywhere when Im there, but I havent the heart to tell him I would rather take public transport. I mean, come on, its waaay cheaper than getting insurance, buying petrol and paying for parking. Anyway, I like seeing all the different types of people that catch buses.
On the topic of driving, Ive only got 40 or so hours left until I can go for my Ps. My father is teaching me and he wants to go for a driving trip during December but mum has 2 weeks holidays over Christmas and Id rather spend time with mum and THEN do the trip. Id feel guilty leaving her all alone. ><
And the way dad talks about it, wed be camping in the car, no internet and going in whatever direction we feel at the time. I just hope well be able to pee and poo in hygienic toilets. Not to mention showers.

Last Wednesday was presentation night. We had a practice during the day, in which I drew this: [link]
That night, luckily, I snagged a seat beside my friend, rather than sitting where I was meant to. We grabbed one of the programs and followed the awards along right up until it was our turn to get ready. As we were called up, we were to collect our award/s. I always find it a little silly because we look like cattle or something. Expecially with the faux plants they had adorning the edge of the stage.
I got a silver academic award, the subject award for film and television, modern history and ancient history along with a service award. I don't even know how I got the service award. I wouldn't say I'm the type to really strive to get awards. It's more along the lines of trying my personal best and not caring about awards. I feel like they're superficial awards. They don't matter. That's probably why I don't like awards night all that much.
Anyway, the cerimony continued on into the night and finally we were up to the special awards. It was nearly over. I've never gotten a special award, nor really cared for them. I had snuck into another seat (which was again not mine); resting my head on my friend's shoulder. Surprisingly, the speaker called my name for the "Academic Work and Citizenship" award. Again, I'm not entirely sure how I got it. Stupidly, I looked around a bit, trying to figure out why they were calling my name before my friend pushed me out of my seat so I could collect it.
I guess I was a little stunned. ><
Then it was time for senior dux to be announced. Clare - a girl I'm not to fond of - got the award. That was a given as she pushed to get a gold award. It was amusing to watch her preen herself and puff her chest out - so characteristic of a bird! If I wasn't so tired I would have laughed.
To be truthful, I was more interested in who would get the runner-up dux. It was a new feature of awards night and I had a fair idea who could get it. I never expected it to be me.
My name was called and, a little stunned, I again collected the award. Me? I got a little hyped up. Who wouldn't? I was just told I was the second best student in the grade! You could hear cat-calls, applause and people shouting. I never knew I was that impressionable. >3>;;
Let alone that I had that many friends. XD
So on that happy note, it was soon over and we were meant to be enjoying food, curtsey of the home economic students, but I was having a ball of a time acting like an utter dickhead with my friends. The boring night was well worth letting loose with my friends.
~~
So fast forward a few days and Im musing over getting a job. Ive only got a couple of months left here and it sure would be good to have some actual work experience before going out into the big bad world. Not to mention, those awards sure would look good on a resume.
Ive been chastised by one of my friends for not working part time, though Ive told them time and time again that I wanted to focus on my studies. Now seems like a good time to get one though. Ive got like 3 months of nothingness coming up.
The place Im thinking of applying are all in walking distance, so that would take the pressure off mum to drop me off and pick me up.
Ah well, I think thats all. Sorry if I ranted a fair bit. ^-^ I think that's the most heart-felt and personal one of my journals have ever been. 0-0'' Did you catch it all? It dun come often. Anyway, tell me what youre doing at the moment or whatcha gunna do over the holidays~?
You're welcome. I really enjoyed reading your comic Perfect Impact while I was procrastinating and was rather put out when I couldn't read it all (I'm fairly certain it wasn't just because I was procrastinating.)
